| Article I. -- Name and
Object |
Section 1.
The name of the association
shall be called "The Nebraska School for the Deaf Alumni
Association" (henceforth, Association).
Section 2.
The object of the Association
shall be to promote the activities of Alumni of Nebraska School
for the Deaf; to protect the interests of their Alma Mater and
to encourage students to remain in school until they graduate.

| Article II. -- Membership |
Section 1.
Membership of
the Association shall be divided into four (4) categories:
-
Active
-
Associate
-
Student
-
Honorary
Section 2.
Active membership
is open to any deaf individual who attended or has graduated
from Nebraska School for the Deaf.
Section 3.
Associate membership
is open to any individual who wishes to join the Association
and does not meet the requirements for Active membership. Associate
members may attend all functions of the Association. Associate
members are exempt from voting and hold office.
Section 4.
Student membership
is open to students at Nebraska School for the Deaf. Student
members may attend all functions of the Association. Student
members are exempt fom voting and hold office.
Section 5.
Honorary membership
is awarded to anyone who contributes to the Association. Honorary
membership is awarded by the consent of the majority of Active
members present at the Association's quinquenniel convention.
Honorary members may attend all functions of the Association.
Honorary members are exempt from voting and hold office. Shall
a honorary member wishes to renew his/her membership, he/she
can become Active member if the honorary member meets the Active
membership requirements, otherwise, he/she can become an Associate
member.
Section 6.
All membership
categories have a term of five years and can be renewed upon
payment of memebership dues. Honorary members can have their
membership extended by a consent of the majority of Active members
present at the Association's quinquennial convention.

| Article III. -- Officers |
Section 1.
The officers of the
Association shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary,
Treasurer and Historian.
Section 2.
The officers of the Association
shall consist the Executive Committee.
Section 3.
The term of Association officers
shall be five (5) years.
Section 4.
The officers, except Historian,
shall be elected on the second day of the Association's quinquennial
convention by secret ballot taken by all Active members present
at the convention. No mail or proxy ballots shall be allowed.
Section 5.
The newly elected officers shall
assume the duties of their respective offices at the adjourment
of the Asociation's quinquennial convention.
Section 6.
Any resignation from an office
shall be submitted in writing to the President. The President
shall appoint a successor and is subject to approval by the
Executive Committee.

| Article IV. -- Duties
of Officers |
Section 1. President
- The President shall president the meetings
of the Executive Committee and Association's quinquennial
convention.
- The President shall enforce order and due
observance of the Association's By-Laws.
- The President shall appoint a parliamentarian
to decide all questions in dispute subject to Robert's Rules
of Order.
- The President shall appoint members to all
standing committees.
- The President shall be ex-officio member
to all standing committees.
Section 2. Vice President
- The Vice President shall perform the duties
of the President at the President's request or whenever
the President is absent or is unable to act.
- The Vice President shall become President
upon resignation, death or removal of the President.
Section 3. Secretary
- The Secretary shall keep a record of all
proceedings of the Association's quinquennial convention
and Executive Committee meetings.
- The Secretary shall be responsible for recordkeeping
of all correspondence of the Association.
Section 4. Treasurer
- The Treasurer shall keep an account of all
receipts and expenditures of the Association.
- The Treasurer shall submit a report of the
Association's financial standing at Association's quinquennial
convention or to the Executive Committee when requested.
Section 5. Historian
- The Historian shall be appointed by the President
and subject to approval by the Executive Committee.
- The Historian shall be responsible for care
and preservation of Nebraska School for the Deaf History
Museum and Archives.
- The Historian shall be responsible for the
Nebraska School for the Deaf History Preservation Fund and
all monies raised for this fund. The Historian shall submit
a financial report to the Executive Committee when requested.
- The Historian shall appoint four (4) Active
members to the Nebraska School for the Deaf History Preservation
Committee.
- The Historian shall have a petty cash account
of up to twenty five dollars ($25.00) to operate on conduct
of his/her business.

| Article V.
-- Standing Committees |
Standing Committees shall be
Executive, History Preservation, Necrology, Resolutions and
Law.
Section 2. Duties of Standing Committees
- Executive Committee
- Executive committee shall have the general
management of the Association.
- Executive committee shall have the power
to use available funds of the Association.
- Executive committee shall decide the site
of the next Associaton Quinquennial Reunion convention.
- History Preservation Committee
- History Preservation committee shall be
responsible for the care and presevation of all photographs,
news articles and documents regarding the history of Nebraska
School for the Deaf.
- History Preservation committee shall be
responsible for the organization and placement of items
in the Nebraska School for the Deaf History Museum.
- Necrology Committee
- Necrology committee shall prepare eulogies
of decreased Nebraska School for the Deaf Alumni Members.
- Necrology committee shall present the eulogies
in the Association's quinquennial convention.
- Resolutions Committee
- Resolutions committee shall suggest to
the Association the adoption of resolutions to praise
members for outstanding contribution, resolutions to improve
the work of the Association, and resolutions to set the
amount of dues and to conduct other business and finanical
matters.
- Law Committee
- Law Committee shall study any recommended
changes to the By-Laws of the Association.
- Law Committee shall present its report
of recommended changes to the By-Laws of the Association
during the Association's quinquennial convention.

| Article VI. -- Convention |
Section 1.
The convention of the Association
shall be held every five (5) years during any calendar year
ending in four (4) or nine (9).
Section 2.
The convention of the Association
shall be held on the campus of Nebraska School for the Deaf
unless the Executive Committee choose a site other than Nebraska
School for the Deaf campus.

Article VII. --
Amendments
|
Section 1.
Amendments may be made to these By-Laws at
the Convention. They shall be submitted in writing at least
30 days prior to the quinquennial Association Convention. A
two-thirds (2/3) vote, a quorum voting shall be necessary for
the adoption of an amendment.

| Article VIII. --
Dissolution |
Section 1.
Upon the affirmative vote of majority of the
Executive Committee and approval by two-third (2/3) vote of
the Active members of the Association, this Association shall
be dissolved, and the Treasurer shall cause to be transferred
all funds, including the deposits and investments and all other
assets and property of the Association to the _______________________
for its full and unrestricted use and benefit as it may direct.
